Through both location and special relationships, the HAL has ready access to obese and overweight healthy adults.
- Of the more than 6,000 active healthy volunteers in the Covance-Leeds
database, approximately 1500 are classified as overweight (BMI 25-29.9) or obese (BMI over 30).
- 150 new obese subjects are recruited each month via an ongoing
advertising campaign.
- Other sources of obese subjects include referrals from local primary and
secondary care networks.
